Official Description: Armed with a single forward pulse laser, the Disciple Vessel may at first seem underpowered, but that is deceptive. Shedding extra crew compartments and relying on total integration of the ship‘s crew into its systems, the Disciple is agile and deadly. Once further trained and equipped, the Disciple Vessel submits itself to becoming an important battery of antimatter for the more powerful of the Unity‘s vessels, while at the same time denying antimatter to the enemy. The Disciple is crewed by expendable low-level Advent acolytes who have demonstrated their personal submission to the Unity, but have no particular psionic talents.
Light, fast and cheap, the Disciple is individually the weakest both offensively and defensively of all of the starting light combat frigates. However, its low supply and resource consumption means that it can make up for this in numbers, providing relatively expendable firepower and ability suppression. Indeed, in fleets of equal supply, the Disciples are actually the strongest of the light frigates thanks to their superior efficiency. The drawback of having individually weaker ships however is that they are slightly more vulnerable to area-effect abilities, such as Missile Barrage or any Titan-based AoE.
As with all light combat frigates, they gain the ability to inhibit enemy antimatter use. In their case it is direct, stealing antimatter from enemy ships and giving it to friendly ships. While this is very useful for keeping friendly support ships going, it can take longer to disable the support abilities of another fleet than the other light combat frigates. And while you can steal anti-matter from enemy ships, usually it is a better option to recieve Antimatter from the Temple of Renewal and serve as a battery for your capital ships and titan.
