The Jikara Navigator is the Vasari's Scout Frigate.
Official Description: As the Vasari continue their long trek through space, it's the Jikaras that lead the way to safety. However, the Jikara is also used for quick strikes against unsuspecting mining installations and houses strike teams that can be deployed to capture enemy assets. Should it encounter enemy forces alone in unknown space, its unique Phasic Cloaking device can be used to either hide and observe enemy maneuvers or to avoid weapons fire, thereby giving it a high survivability without any support from the Exodus Fleet.

Slightly more expensive in both resource and fleet supply costs, the Navigator has a shining advantage over the other two scout frigates: it can crew neutral extractors. While this may not seem like a huge advantage at first, keep in mind that neutral extractors produce more resources than any other extractors and cannot be destroyed directly. This means that any of the other two factions will have to use one of their slow colony frigates to claim the extractor or allow the Vasari player a permanent resource advantage and a possibly advantageous scout post. In addition to scouting advantages, each neutral extractor is worth about as much as a trade port: do not underestimate them!
Like all scout frigates, when in a large enough group (8+), the Jikara is very effective at taking out enemy units with Light Armor, such as Krosov Siege Frigates.
The researchable ability, Selective Phasing, makes the Navigator more survivable against late game fleets that can quickly make short work of most scout frigates. Selective Phasing is excellent at providing a Vasari player with scouting information on an enemy planet for a few minutes until antimatter runs out.
Like all scout frigates the Navigator can be upgraded to be immune to Phase Jump Inhibitors.
In the early-game, scout frigates are the most cost effective at countering enemy players' light raiding parties of siege frigates or Ogrovs.
Trivia[]
In the Sins of a Solar Empire manual, the description of the Jikara Navigator misspells Jikara as Jakara, but the unit name above it says Jikara. Likewise, the Selective Phasing ability is referred to as Phasic Cloaking in the manual, while the ability is referred to as Selective Phasing in-game.
