The Protev Colony Frigate is the TEC's Colony Frigate.
Overview[]
Once a new planet has been secured, a Protev is called in to deploy settlers and administrators on the new world. These ships must be protected from enemies at all times, as they are quickly destroyed in a firefight and barely able to defend themselves. Protev‘s also carry crews and equipment that can be used to establish remote mining bases.
Tactics[]
Protev's are a must in almost all multiplayer games as they allow you to colonize multiple worlds at the same time. Should you open with an Akkan Battlecruiser and you have two worlds next to you. For example, one of them being a moon and the other being an asteroid send the Akkan to clean up one world and send the Protev to the other world. Once the Protev colonizes its world place a turret in front of the world where the neutral Siege Frigate would bombard your planet.
One more thing to consider is that all colonization vessels have a weapon (although very weak). This can become crucial when fighting over a Neutral. After colonizing a neutral send the Protev to attack the other races colonizer. Also once you colonize the planet should you need to move on to another planet it is more effective to send the Protev back into friendly territory then back into the planet it had just colonized so it will have dropped aggro from the neutrals on that colony.
