The Ravastra Skirmisher is the Vasari's Light Frigate.
Official Description: Ravastra Skirmishers combines speed with power to create a deadly close-range combat vessel. Heavily armored, the Ravastra can withstand a great deal of punishment for its size but is still nearly as nimble as the Jikara. Its ability to withstand punishment is further enhanced once it enters its Reintegration repair cycle, where both engines and weapon systems are shut down in order to quickly regenerate its hull. Given its high speed, survivability and relatively low resource cost, the Ravastra was also determined to be the most suited to striking deep into the enemy‘s fleet during combat in order to activate interference devices that restrict the use of antimatter.
Tactics[]
Being the heaviest, most expensive and toughest of any of the light combat frigates, the Skirmisher is slightly less expendable than other light frigates. With more armor and the ability to rapidly repair itself, it is also more difficult to destroy. The light frigates of other factions cost significantly less, both in terms of supply and resource cost, but are also less powerful and less durable. The Skirmisher's anti-support ability doesn't directly prevent the use of abilities, but it makes them less effective by doubling their antimatter cost and cooldown. Fielding Skirmishers later in the game when support cruisers are more common requires less micromanagement due to their self-repairing and heavier armor.
Skirmishers should generally be avoided early-game due to their extreme weakness to enemy long range frigates: it's nearly always a better choice to invest in large numbers of Jikaras (against Krosov militia) or Assailants instead. However, if fleets are relatively small and you have both levels of Reintegration researched, Skirmishers can be excellent damage-soaks.
