The remains of battles long past, Space Junk is an uncolonizible gravity well filled with the wrecks of hundreds of spacefaring ships. Sometimes the product of old ships being dumped near large asteroids, Space junk is generally the remains of large space battles, some from the current galactic war, some tens of thousands of years old.
Space junk has the possibility to have metal or crystal mining outposts, with a total maximum of 3 asteroids. While some of the outposts are salvage yards slowly combing and recycling the wreckage, many Space Junk gravity wells contain extremely valuable resource asteroids in their pull, possibly explaining the reason for large battles that my have happened nearby.
